Complete Your Project with Expert Door Installation
While our name is Bestoff Windows, we know that a true home energy retrofit isn’t complete without addressing your exterior doors. Outdated doors are major sources of drafts, energy loss, and security vulnerabilities.
We are proud to offer professional installation of a wide variety of premium exterior doors to ensure your home’s envelope is completely sealed, efficient, and beautiful.
Our Door Installation Policy
It is important to understand how we structure our services to maintain our competitive pricing and efficient installation schedules throughout the Bay Area.
Bestoff Windows & Construction does not install doors by themselves. Our door installation services are offered exclusively as an “add-on” to a window replacement project.
The Bestoff Minimum Requirement:
We can successfully include door installation in your project provided the total order meets our minimum threshold:
- A minimum of four (4) vinyl windows
- PLUS At least one (1) door.
By bundling your new energy-efficient windows with your door upgrade, we can ensure a cohesive look, a single efficient installation timeline, and the best possible project value.
Types of doors we install
From grand front entrances to seamless backyard transitions, we handle all common residential door configurations.
Side Doors & Rear Doors
This is the pedestrian door connecting your conditioned living space directly to an attached garage. Because garages are often sources of carbon monoxide, fumes, and fire hazards, this specific door has strict building code requirements (typically AAMA performance standards). We exclusively install solid-core or fire-rated assemblies for this opening, equipped with required self-closing hinges.

Double Entry Doors
French doors consist of a pair of side-by-side hinged doors that both open, either swinging inward (inswing) or outward (outswing). They add immediate elegance and create a wide, welcoming opening that is perfect for dining rooms leading out to a patio or garden.

Single Doors
The classic, versatile standard. A single-entry hinged door can serve as a front door, a back-of-house door, or a utility entrance. These offer the widest range of customization, from solid privacy doors to those featuring extensive decorative glass (lites).
Sliding Doors
Perhaps the most common patio door, sliding glass doors use one or more panels that glide horizontally on a track. They are excellent space-savers because they do not “swing” into the room, making them ideal for connecting family rooms to decks or patios. We specialize in ultra-slim profile sliding doors that maximize your view of the outdoors.
Comparing Door Materials
Just like windows, the material of your door dictates its thermal performance, security rating, and how much maintenance you will need to perform. We vet our manufacturing partners carefully to provide durable, dependable products.
Material Performance Chart
Below is a detailed comparison of common exterior door materials to help you decide which is best suited for your specific openings, from your front entrance to your garage service door.
| Material | Best Door Types | Primary Benefits (Pros) | Key Detriments (Cons) |
| Vinyl | Sliding Patio Doors | Match Bestoff Windows: Matches frame aesthetics and colors. Unmatched Insulation: Multi-chambered vinyl is the best thermal barrier. Zero Maintenance: Never needs painting or staining; won’t rot or corrode. Affordable: Best price-to-performance value. | Limited to Sliding: Rarely used effectively for primary swinging entry doors due to rigidity constraints. |
| Fiberglass | Single Entry, Front Grand Entry, Double Entry | Versatility: Can be made to look exactly like wood grain. High Durability: Dent, scratch, and rot-resistant. Immune to humidity changes. Low Maintenance: Requires very little upkeep. Insulating: Foam core provides high R-value. | Highest Initial Cost: Premium fiberglass systems are often the most expensive option. |
| Steel | Single Entry (Secondary), House-to-Garage, Back Door, Utility | Ultimate Security: Unmatched rigidity and forced entry resistance. Budget-Friendly: Most affordable swinging door option. Fire Protection: Standard for garage-to-house transitions. | Inferior Insulation: It is a conductor; cold in winter, hot in summer. Sweating can occur. Damage prone: Can dent easily and must be painted immediately if scratched to prevent rust. |
| Wood | Front Grand Entry, French Doors (High-End) | Unbeatable Beauty: The look, feel, and aroma of real timber. Natural Insulator: Wood inherently resists thermal transfer. Customizable: Can be painted or stained to any shade. | Highest Maintenance: Relentless upkeep. Must be sanded, painted, or stained every few years. Liability: Organic material is prone to rot, termites, swelling, and warping due to weather changes. |
| Aluminum | Sliding Patio Doors (Large Spans) | Modern Aesthetics: Allows for incredibly slim profiles and massive glass. Strength-to-Weight: Can handle very heavy, massive glass panes easily. Lightweight: Easy glide operation even on huge doors. | Poorest Insulator: Metal is a raw thermal conductor. Sweating (condensation) is a significant issue in many climates, which can lead to mold on nearby drywall. |
